About
Early Years
Born in Northern California in 1981, Matthew spent his formative years in the small town of Lincoln, California. These early small-town experiences shaped his worldview and work ethic before his family relocated to Northwest Arkansas during his teenage years.
Restaurant Career
Matthew's professional journey began in the restaurant industry, where he worked throughout Fayetteville, Arkansas. His dedication and natural leadership abilities eventually led to management positions and advancement into corporate restaurant marketing. This career path took him on extensive travels from Arkansas to Alaska, visiting every state in between and gaining invaluable knowledge of the restaurant industry across diverse markets and cultures.
Return to Roots & New Beginnings
Life eventually brought Matthew full circle back to Lincoln, California—now a much larger community than the one he remembered from childhood. Upon his return, he discovered a new passion for construction work, starting as a laborer before developing specialized skills as a heavy equipment operator.
Entrepreneurship
Matthew's ambition and expertise in construction led him to establish his own backhoe company. His business acumen and technical skills allowed this venture to evolve into a successful general contracting company. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic created insurmountable challenges for the business, ultimately forcing Matthew to shutter his company.
Post-Pandemic Transition
In the aftermath of the pandemic, Matthew adapted to new circumstances by working as a handyman contractor, leveraging his extensive construction knowledge to provide valuable services to his community.
Health Challenges & New Purpose
Matthew's life took another significant turn with a diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis, a chronic autoimmune condition that fundamentally changed his daily reality. Learning to cope with chronic pain while reimagining his future has become his most challenging journey yet.
Advocacy & Education
Rather than allowing his diagnosis to define his limitations, Matthew has chosen to transform his experience into a platform for awareness and education. He now dedicates himself to sharing his journey with Rheumatoid Arthritis, offering insights and support to others facing similar challenges. Through his advocacy, Matthew demonstrates remarkable resilience and strength, proving that even life's most difficult challenges can become opportunities for meaningful contribution and personal growth.
"I choose to share my experiences and knowledge through this challenge in my life, proving I have the will and strength to continue and dedicating myself to spreading awareness of this disease." — Matthew
